Berkshire caricaturist meets Delboy and Patsy!

At a corporate event recently near Heathrow I turned up to be greeted by these two! Fantastic fun, except for some reason everyone got it into their heads that I was a David Bowie look-a-like, perhaps it was the smart suit. It was only when I started drawing caricatures that anyone believed me!

Facebloke raising money for Dingley charity

I do three charity events per year and last night kicked off with http://www.dingley.org.uk charity masquerade ball. I had a mask which I soon realised was a problem to wear whith my reading glasses So I opted for wearing the mask on the back of my head.

The Dingley organisation do some fantastic work and provide a vital support for those in need, I would urge you to visit the site and look at what they do.

I was drawing caricatures all night, met some really splendid people including the Belle Bows (Daisy turned artist and actually produced a fine caricature of me which I will put on the peoples drawings of me page in addition to here).

The event was very well run and I believe tickets sold out. I was kept busy all night and met some great people who were very generous in supporting Dingley.

What a great night at the Mill at Sonning, I was drawing caricatures collecting money for two charities www.animalsasia.org and dogsmatter.co.uk, both close to the heart of well known actor Peter Egan. On stage were Peter Egan, Lorraine Chase, Michelle Collins, Miles Jupp, Rula Lenska, Simon Slater, Simon Mulligan and the fabulous Rick Wakeman.

I did caricatures of all the stars which went down well, even managed to get a kiss from Rula and the wonderful Michelle (I love her) who said she was getting hers framed! Then I walked around the audience drawing and chatting and collecting donations. The audience proved just as interesting, I got to meet a couple who have a pet wolf – seriously, I saw the picture!

The Mill at Sonning is truly a great place to enjoy an evenings entertainment, the theatre is compact which makes you feel part of the production. They are the most friendly locations that I have worked, very helpful indeed – I really love working there.

Wedding caricatures at pinewood studios by facebloke

I recently caricatured at a wedding, the location was Pinewood Studios. To get to the house and grounds you drive through the studios which makes it a unique venue for those looking for something a little different. I was set up in the bar area which was perfect as it allowed for a large crowd to watch as I picked my way through the long line of couples waiting their turn.

What a great place to have a kids party, Legoland Hotel and Resort asked me to come along and caricature for them at a booked kids party. It’s the first time I’ve been to the hotel and I must say I was impressed!

Themed rooms, loads of lego and busy with hundreds of kids having a great time, you really gotta see it!

The party went fine and the kids enjoyed having their caricatures done, they were around 7 years old and loved drawing themselves. Of course I got them to do some pictures of me which were stunning. Will be updating the gallery with them later today!

Thatcher style caricature for leaving present

I recently produced a caricature for Mars Inc of a loved member of staff who was leaving. She was kindly referred to as the Iron Lady and so my caricature of her was based on this style.

This is what the client had to say:

Paul created an amazing piece of caricature art entitled the ‘Iron lady’ as a retirement gift stylising Cathy in a Maggie-esque fashion. Cathy was thrilled & amused when she opened it but not half as much as her colleagues! Great job Paul!’

Grosvenor G Casino and Facebloke a winning combination

Some images of the great people I met whilst caricaturing at the new Grosvenor G Casino in Reading. It’s not just for gambling though, you can dine, drink and see a show! I tasted some of the food and will go back albeit without my pens – I couldn’t get away last night, ended up caricaturing what felt like half the staff! Great people though and a really good atmosphere.

Major caricature!

Just completed a studio caricature for an RSM who is moving to another post. I enjoy these studio caricatures, it allows me to build in elements special to the person and makes it specific to them. I get regular work from the armed forces, another favourite is when someone leaves a Squadron they get me to caricature the group and then they gift it to the Squadron – some of my work done many years ago is still hanging on the wall providing a fun memoir.

The good thing about studio caricature work is it can come from all over the country, I work from photographs which are emailed to me so you can live anywhere! Along with some corporate companies I also caricature for some banks.

This week I have another Army caricature, a Squadron group caricature and a leaver from a corporate business – will update with the end results later, but only after they have been presented.

What a week, did a fantastic private party at Banca, a superb Italian restaurant in London around the corner from Selfridges. The restaurant was closed to the public and was a fantastic venue for some fun caricatures. As I got there early I took the opportunity of popping in to Selfridges, with the recent tv show creating such a stir I must say when you see it for real it’s much much bigger in real life! I refrained from purchasing a several thousand pound mobile phone and moved on to the private party but not until I had photographed Mr Selfridge made of sweets!

Whatever the event I just love caricaturing, it doesn’t seem to matter whether the customers are old, young, rich or poor the drawings go down well and it seems to captivate the audience. So many people say to me ‘ I used to love art’, strange why so many who loved drawing and sketching as a child give it up and never take it up again even though they were so passionate about it! Did I see anyone famous – perhaps!
