Facebloke in London Town for New Years Eve

So when I took the booking it was early last year. Tonight I will be working in Trafalgar Square in central London. As I sit preparing my paper, pens and spare pens etc I wonder just how busy it will be? Thoughts of the last time I went to London on New Years Eve go way back to a teen, when the group I went with got split up due to waves of people moving in different directions, you couldn’t fight it and got swept away. So tonight I am hoping it will be more controlled, my booking is for a few hours in a hotel so that part is fine, I hope to then leave and catch a train just as the new year is ringing in.

Spare a thought for all those working to make your new year happy and please give them a smile, even if you have to wait a little longer for your drink or meal, it’s a very busy night!!!

At a corporate event recently near Heathrow I turned up to be greeted by these two! Fantastic fun, except for some reason everyone got it into their heads that I was a David Bowie look-a-like, perhaps it was the smart suit. It was only when I started drawing caricatures that anyone believed me!

Wedding caricatures at The Old Mill Aldermaston

Michelle and Dan picked a fantastic summer location for their wedding – The Old Mill at Aldermaston. It’s the first time I’ve caricatured there and it looked to be a splendid summer location. The weather was hot and the river looked fantastic, what a great setting for a special day.

We had a great time, I was caricaturing full colour for the evening which is my favourite. First I entertained parents with young children as they distracted them from the grown ups speeches etc and then everyone came through for the nights entertainment. As I caricatured there was a great singer keeping me entertained whilst I entertained the wedding party!

It was great to be up in London again recently, I was delivering some caricatures that I had completed a while ago now. I am very lucky in that my caricaturing takes me to some very special places, this will be the third time I have been in the House of Lords and I am fascinated by the wonderful buildings and people who inhabit this incredible place.

One of the caricatures was for Lord Kennedy, he is a great sport and has an infectious laugh – I was more than pleased to hear this laugh when he took his caricature!

What a great night at the Mill at Sonning, I was drawing caricatures collecting money for two charities www.animalsasia.org and dogsmatter.co.uk, both close to the heart of well known actor Peter Egan. On stage were Peter Egan, Lorraine Chase, Michelle Collins, Miles Jupp, Rula Lenska, Simon Slater, Simon Mulligan and the fabulous Rick Wakeman.

I did caricatures of all the stars which went down well, even managed to get a kiss from Rula and the wonderful Michelle (I love her) who said she was getting hers framed! Then I walked around the audience drawing and chatting and collecting donations. The audience proved just as interesting, I got to meet a couple who have a pet wolf – seriously, I saw the picture!

The Mill at Sonning is truly a great place to enjoy an evenings entertainment, the theatre is compact which makes you feel part of the production. They are the most friendly locations that I have worked, very helpful indeed – I really love working there.

A great time by all, fun and laughter, something for guests to watch and join in with and they get to take home a great souvenir of your special day.

This was a really good location in Ascot, the weather was kind and I sat outside for the early part of the evening, moving inside when the light dipped and the music started. The bride and groom asked for their picture to be done leaving enough space for guests to sign and leave messages around the outside – a great idea!

These were two great sports, full of fun so I exaggerated a little more which the crowd watching behind loved as they heckled Had to join them in the photo!

What a great charity night we had at the Jack O’Newbury in Binfield Saturday Night. Great live music, fantastic food and a really great group of people enjoying the entertainment. They had set me up on the patio just by the front door with lighting and a table, it worked really well and with the weather warm and almost like a summer eve I was set to draw as many people as possible all for charity.

This is a picture of a great character who just heckled everyone as I caricatured them – then it was his turn so I added a blue shirt as I heard he wasn’t keen on Chelsea

I really enjoyed the evening and managed to raise over £150 for the chosen charity.

I must say the Jack O’Newbury will be on my list to visit, what a fantastic atmosphere – and thanks to the staff including my old friend Terry who I hadn’t seen for over 10 years for keeping me hydrated!!!!!!

I feel truly international having completed a picture including eight people for a lovely lady in Bahrain. This is a very well established group who get along really well, two of the group are leaving so this will remind them of all the fun they had in Bahrain!

I recently produced a caricature for Mars Inc of a loved member of staff who was leaving. She was kindly referred to as the Iron Lady and so my caricature of her was based on this style.

This is what the client had to say:

Paul created an amazing piece of caricature art entitled the ‘Iron lady’ as a retirement gift stylising Cathy in a Maggie-esque fashion. Cathy was thrilled & amused when she opened it but not half as much as her colleagues! Great job Paul!’
