Christmas Silly Season For Berkshire Caricaturist

It always catches me by surprise, one minute it’s an age away and then i’m listening to Slade at corporate Christmas parties for what seems months! I love caricaturing at this time of year, everyone is ready for a few days off after slogging away for the year, the Christmas party offers a chance to let their hair down and look forward to time off.

I’ve not taken any photos to share from any parties this year, it’s just been too busy so here is a few from the past – My new year’s resolution is to take more photos of the places I work!

Ipad Pro Caricatures

Apologies for not updating my post for a while, it’s been mad with weddings and corporate events lately. I’ve introduced technology to sit alongside my traditional pen and paper caricature drawings. I’ve wanted to do this for a while, but having tried the Surface, older Ipad and various other things I’ve never felt the same as I do when drawing on paper. However, after a visit to Apple in the Oracle and playing for the best part of a morning with the new Ipad Pro and Pen – well it’s just a step above and I had to have one.

After much fiddling and drawing I now have specific brushes which are similar to my traditional pens. Happy with the results I’ve done a couple of events and they seem to be well received When working live with Ipad Pro, I take a wireless printer with me so each person gets a postcard size picture but I can also hook up to a large screen so people can watch me draw. The beauty with tech though is that I also upload all the images to the cloud, provide guests with a link and they can go along and download the image digitally – so it doesn’t matter if you spill beer on your hard copy as the original is always available to download.

Caricatures at Goodwood Revival 2015

What a great venue to work at! It was my first time at Goodwood Revival and I made sure I went dressed as I imagined a 1946 caricaturist would look – to be honest not much different from how I normally dress albeit I did add a bow tie

I worked on the Icon Neon stand, drawing people whilst they waited to talk to the owner about his fantastic neon signs. It’s a great form of entertainment and goes down well on a stand. My down time allowed me to wander round the show and take in all the sights and sounds from a golden classic period. The cars are just superb and the fact that everyone dresses up you get a feel for how it may have felt back then.

Caricatures at BMW Reading

Fantastic event at the very posh new BMW centre in Drake Way Reading. The open evening saw me drawing caricatures, some excellent live music and some very talented magicians walking the floors.

I was one floor up and had the joy of drawing people with the I8 in the background, I did have to take a look before I left and it truly is fantastic!

I had lots of customers to draw, it’s always nice to put a smile on peoples faces!

Savory Duck

Well I have just completed a logo for a band called Savory Duck. They used to tour with the big boys back in the day and are back up and running from what I can gather. They wanted a logo, but weren’t sure which direction to take, so I started with a line drawing and the finished pic is nothing like it started.

Wedding Fair Season

I was drawing at Coppid Beech Hotel Bracknell yesterday at the wedding fair. I enjoy doing the wedding fairs as it gives me the opportunity to show my style of caricatures to prospective wedding customers. It’s a long day but well worth it and people leave with lots of goodies – I always manage to wangle some really nice cake!

At a corporate event recently near Heathrow I turned up to be greeted by these two! Fantastic fun, except for some reason everyone got it into their heads that I was a David Bowie look-a-like, perhaps it was the smart suit. It was only when I started drawing caricatures that anyone believed me!
