I worked on the Icon Neon stand, drawing people whilst they waited to talk to the owner about his fantastic neon signs. It’s a great form of entertainment and goes down well on a stand. My down time allowed me to wander round the show and take in all the sights and sounds from a golden classic period. The cars are just superb and the fact that everyone dresses up you get a feel for how it may have felt back then.

Here’s a photo of my new studio clock, one pic in the dusk and one showing it when it got darker.I now have Amanda at 5pm and Steve 11pm, with others from Heart FM, Reading FC passing the time of day with Maggie Smith at wine o-clock – I just feels better seeing pictures instead of numbers !

I can have the clock with or without the neon tube active, it looks fantastic and puts a glow around the studio, I chose blue but other colours are available. The guys at www.iconneon.com have loads of ready made signs, clocks or sculptures to choose from so whether you like pool, dinking or motorcycles there is something for you including iconic brand names like Coke – mine was a custom job – All EU standards are fully met, the packaging is excellent and the clocks make great presents I am happy to recommend.

Facebloke Caricatures in Neon

I decided to draw two chaps for an advert which I am running to be shown on the TV’s around the ground – I chose Anton Ferdinand, a defender and Manager Steve Clarke. These were produced in my studio, I hand draw with a brush pen then either colour up using pencils or as in this case scan in and colour up using Photoshop. Caricatures from photos (using pencils) start from only £15 making it very affordable – the Photoshop ones start out from £85 which includes a frame so they are ready to hang or place on the sideboard.

It will be great to feel a small part of the Reading Football Club, I think a team caricature picture would look pretty good in the stadium

Faces for a book

I was drawing at Coppid Beech Hotel Bracknell yesterday at the wedding fair. I enjoy doing the wedding fairs as it gives me the opportunity to show my style of caricatures to prospective wedding customers. It’s a long day but well worth it and people leave with lots of goodies – I always manage to wangle some really nice cake!

Facebloke draws a crowd at any event

I am dreadful at updating facebook and twitter! There I’ve said it and that’s that, but in the last few weeks I have also neglected this blog. So I thought I would put together a whistle stop tour of things I’ve done in the last few weeks! I mean fancy not blogging about my caricature adventure at Charlton Athletic Football Club or my visit to Brocket Hall….. shameful, so here’s a quick whiz through..

I recently produced a caricature for Mars Inc of a loved member of staff who was leaving. She was kindly referred to as the Iron Lady and so my caricature of her was based on this style.

This is what the client had to say:

Paul created an amazing piece of caricature art entitled the ‘Iron lady’ as a retirement gift stylising Cathy in a Maggie-esque fashion. Cathy was thrilled & amused when she opened it but not half as much as her colleagues! Great job Paul!’
